Getting married in Portishead URCPortishead United Reformed Church is licensed for marriages, and we welcome enquiries about getting married in our church.
Where one or both parties has been married before and is now divorced, it may still be possible for the marriage to take place in our church.
If you are interested in getting married in our church please email
info@portisheadurc.co.uk and we will be happy to arrange an initial meeting.
Marriage preparationAs well as helping you prepare for the wedding day itself, we aim to help each couple prepare for married life together. In particular, we encourage couples preparing for marriage to take advantage of the courses run by the
Bristol Community Family Trust. BCFT runs 'state of the art' relationship courses in Bristol every month for engaged and newlywed couples. Research has shown that such courses can enhance your relationship and help reduce your chances of divorce. And they're fun!
For more information on the BCFT courses, and for marriage and relationship tips, visit the
BCFT website.
How much does a wedding cost? The basic cost, including the fees for the minister and organist, is £207 (at 1st January 2008). This does
not include flowers - most couples prefer to organise their own flowers, but arrangements can be made for the church to provide flowers, at an extra cost.
The church does not have a choir, but it may be possible to arrange for a choir to be present and to sing an anthem if you wish. Again, there would be an additional charge for this.
